EU may limit the use of PFOA and other substances

       March 5, 2014, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that Germany and the Norwegian government has launched a data collection to determine the use of PFOA and PFOA-related substances, quantity and availability, as well as technically and economically feasible alternatives.
       Germany and Norway plan on October 17, 2014 to submit a paper on the use of PFOA, the file is called "Annex XV restriction information document" is based on "Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction" (REACH regulation) Accessories XV relevant information required within the assembly together, these data will be used to evaluate alternatives.
The document may result in the most contact materials and mixtures containing PFOA in-market restrictions. If the authorities adopt restrictive measures, the European Commission will put the measures included in the REACH Regulation Annex XV Ⅱ. Annex XVII has been banned in the EU contains a list of products put on the market, including certain types containing phthalates in toys and childcare articles containing azo dyes and textiles. Many types of products contain PFOA, including paints, textiles, carpets, furniture, fabrics, paper, leather, toner, carpet cleaners and care agents, sealants and floor wax.
       PFOA remains in the several objects, including wire insulation, a dedicated circuit board, waterproof film for clothes (such as Gore-Tex), surgical implants, dental floss and a non-stick coating. In addition, the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) highlighted in a report, imported products (such as outdoor clothing) is the main source of PFOA.
